EDITING PORTFOLIO | PROJECTS
In-depth visual storytelling sheds light on the often unseen struggles and triumphs within our society.
These projects include documentation of injured and killed oil field workers, revealing the human cost behind energy production. Another follows a rehabilitation program at a Colorado hospital, offering hope to those paralyzed by spinal injuries. A series follows a group navigating the challenges of drug court, capturing their journey towards recovery.
Drilling Through Danger

Denver Post Photojournalists spent a year documenting the stories of death and injuries in the Colorado oil and gas fields. The appeal of high salaries and good benefits covered the truth, an industry not fully protecting workers.
Our team received the Emmy Awards for Overall Excellence and Community Service for the project.

Carl and Debbie Smith know about life and loss working in the oil and gas industry. On a cold day in November, 2014, their son Matt was killed working on a drilling site.

Four Lives, One Last Chance
Photojournalist Sangjib Min followed the first class of the new Drug Court program in Virginia. Over the next year, he'd document their lives, some better and some not. But in each moment was truth, truth in overcoming addiction and truth in failing rehabilitation.

Healing Paralysis in Denver
Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado, is renowned for its specialized care and rehabilitation for patients with spinal cord injuries (SCI) and brain injuries. Mostly closed to access in the past, we were able to gain access to some of their most important programs which offer hope to those with spinal chord injuries.
